USC DL Jaimeon Winfield named 5-star recruit by Rivals
Rivals has released its final player rankings for the 2026 recruiting cycle and USC defensive lineman signee Jaimeon Winfield has made a major jump.
The Richardson (Texas) standout jumped up 27 spots in the final Rivals300 and is now a five-star recruit. Winfield checks in at No. 11 overall and No. 2 at the defensive lineman position.
Rivals’ National Scout Cody Bellaire explained Winfield’s impressive jump to five-star status on Monday:
“USC signee Jaimeon Winfield has been a prospect for us that has continued to trend upward throughout his senior season, and he put a cherry on top of an incredible high school career with a stellar performance in the Navy All-American Bowl. Winfield earned the number two spot on the Rivals Navy All-American Bowl final top performers list by being a completely unstoppable force along the defensive front throughout the week. His combination of size and burst off the line of scrimmage allows him to knife through blockers with vertical disruption.
…The pad level, paired with his length, allows him to gain leverage at the point of attack consistently in the run game and makes him so tough to remove from his spot. Winfield has every opportunity to walk into a college program and become a three-down enforcer capable of being a disruptor in the run and pass game the moment he steps on campus.”

Winfield was a big early win for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans in the 2026 cycle. He committed to USC on March 14, choosing the West Coast Big Ten program over the likes of Texas, LSU and Texas A&M.
“Honestly, USC wasn’t always at top of my board, but once I just got down there and visited the place, there’s a great culture, they have great people in the building and stuff like that,” Winfield told WeAreSC. “Then you got some of the best coaches in the nation at USC, and then you see what they can build on. We got the number one (recruiting) class and stuff like that. And I felt like it was just something I wanna be a part of.”
Winfield finishes as one of two Rivals five-stars headed to Los Angeles, alongside EDGE Luke Wafle. USC has held the No. 1 spot in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings for a majority of the cycle and the 6-foot-3, 325-pounder is near the top of the pack for Riley and Co.
