Trey Autry commits to George Washington

Three-star guard Trey Autry commits to George Washington. This is new head coach Chris Caputo’s first commitment in the 2023 class.

“The emphasis they put on player development played a big role in my decision,” Autry told On3. “It seemed like they had a plan for me, and all the coaches made me feel like they were invested in me.”

Throughout the process, Autry claimed offers from Cincinnati, Nebraska, Rhode Island, UMass, Saint Joseph’s, and others. Along with George Washington, the 6-foot-3 guard took official visits to Rhode Island and Cincinnati.

“The opportunity to be able to come in and have a chance to compete for minutes early was also something that stood out for me,” Autry said. “They want me to be a guy that can defend multiple positions because of my size and strength. Also, a player that can really shoot the ball but develop into an all-around scorer.”

Trey Autry spent the summer with the Albany City Rocks program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit. The Hudson (OH) Western Reserve guard averaged 10.5 points and knocked down 2.0 threes per game through 21 circuit games this summer.

“My favorite part of the visit was the scrimmage,” Autry said. “It was good watching how they play and their play-style.”
