Top 2026 recruit Averie Lower commits to Arizona State

Highly-recruited 2026 prospect Averie Lower has committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils. The 5-11 guard from Tiffin (IA) Clear Creek-Amana chose ASU over Illinois State, Marquette and Missouri. 

“We’re still building a relationship and I’m still getting to know them, but it’s really exciting to hear Coach [Molly] Miller’s plans on where she’s going to take the program,” Lower previously told Rivals. “She has super high energy, which I love. I can tell she’s really into developing her players.”

There were several factors Lower was considering when making her decision. 

“I think the relationship piece is really important for me,” Lower said on factors she considered. “I need to have a coaching staff that I can trust, especially if I’m going to go away from home. Just that good culture, and also player development is huge for me…I also need a coaching staff that can utilize my unique skillset.”

Arizona State has earned a commitment from one of the biggest stock-risers of the summer. While Lower is known for her high-level shooting ability, she’s a well-rounded talent that will help highlight the beginnings of the Molly Miller era at Arizona State.

“The first thing that comes to mind is my shooting,” Lower said. “I don’t feel like I need a lot of space to get off of a shot and, with that, defend. I pull defenders out and I can space the floor, especially for my teammates as well. I can set screens for them, but yeah, I think that’s my biggest thing. I think I’m better off of a screen than I am a stand and shoot shooter, so I think that’s unique.”
