Quentin Coleman, Rivals’ No. 20 overall prospect in the 2026 class, has committed to Illinois, he announced.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of The Principia School (MO) was previously signed with Wake Forest before reopening his recruitment last month.

Coleman, a four-star senior, is the No. 7-ranked shooting guard and the No. 1 player in Missouri for the 2026 class, according to Rivals.

He also received offers from Texas Tech, Missouri, and others.

Coleman averaged 22.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game this high school season. He shot 63.5% from the field and 49% from three. His Principia squad won state, scoring a whopping 50 points in the championship game.

More on Coleman

Rivals’ National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw has evaluated Quentin Coleman on many occasions. Here is what he had to say about him:

At this time last year, Quentin Coleman was unranked. In a way, it is pretty incredible that in a single 12-month span, we were able to see a layer go from virtual unknown to a bona fide Top-20 prospect in the country. But in the same thought process, the last 12 months that Coleman has had have not particularly been normal.

Coleman’s senior season has been epic. He moved comfortably from role player to featured star. Elevating his high school team as high as No. 2 in MaxPrep’s national high school rankings. And what Coleman did was up his usage, moving to the top of the scouting report, while keeping his efficiency intact.

Coleman was not only able to space the floor, but he was also able to self-create opportunities. Not only was he able to move the ball on offense, but he could also collapse a defense. There is something magical that can happen when a talented player finds his confidence. So many times in the scouting world, we talk about a prospect, saying things like, “He doesn’t even know how good he could be.”
