Three-star ATH Jamari Johnson sticks with Louisville

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Jamari Johnson‘s final college decision is in.

Johnson, the On3 Consensus‘ No. 17-ranked ATH in the country who projects to tight end on Saturdays, is sticking with Louisville.

Oregon made a hard-fought push down the tail end of Johnson’s senior season and hosted him for a December official visit, but new Cardinals coach Jeff Brohm made it a priority to keep the jumbo pass-catcher in the fold.

“All the coaches left so I had a couple of second thoughts, but this new coaching staff has got a cool vibe,” Johnson told On3.

“I love their offense and I love how I fit in the offense.”

Louisville landed an early commitment from Johnson in April but had to stave off Dan Lanning and the Ducks down the stretch. Once Brohm arrived, his offensive approach appealed to Johnson.

“They compared my game to what they look for (at TE) in their offense,” he continued. “They’d have me doing stuff I wanna be doing and not too much blocking.”

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Johnson is tabbed as the No. 449 overall prospect in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
