Talented 2026 CB Dominic Turnbull commits to FIU over Power Five offers
Keeping local South Florida talent in the region can be challenging, as many schools from across the country recruit heavily in the area.
Local three-star cornerback talent Dominic Turnbull decided to stay home and commit to FIU despite multiple offers from Power Four schools. The 2026 DB from True North Classical Academy made his announcement via social media on Thursday night.
“I wanted to be somewhere that I am loved and not just recruited,” Turnbull said. “The coaches built a great relationship with me. They have a plan for me, and I feel I can help FIU win next year. I originally wanted to wait until signing day, but I just felt like this was the right time. My relationship with the staff is really good. It’s one of the reasons I am committing.”
Turnbull holds offers from Auburn, Arizona State, Florida, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Purdue, and USC, and says all of the other contenders were on a level playing field.

“I wouldn’t say I had an order for who came in second and third, but I do know FIU is one,” Turnbull said. “I never listed a top five or top ten. I was open to everyone; it was an even playing field when it came to my recruitment.”
Turnbull has 19 passes defended and one interception this season. True North begins its playoff run next week with a home game against Palmer Trinity.
