It’s been a big couple of months for Columbia (S.C.) Dutch Fork EDGE Julian Walker, and it just got bigger.

Rivals has released its final player rankings for the 2026 recruiting cycle and the South Carolina signee was named a five-star recruit on Monday. He jumped from No. 26 to No. 15 in the final Rivals300.

Rivals’ National Scout Cody Bellaire explained Walker’s latest jump, this time to five-star status, on Monday:

“South Carolina signee Julian Walker is one of the rarer blends of body type and movement skills for the EDGE position. He possesses prototypical size, standing at over 6-foot-5, 245 pounds with nearly 35-inch arms. The frame and build he possesses will also allow him to add significant mass if necessary. He could potentially get up to 265 pounds with ease while maintaining his tremendous bend and twitch. At the Navy All-American Bowl, he showed he is much more refined in his pass rush and has more burst than we initially expected, especially for his frame.

…Walker is a prospect who is much more polished than we expected, which raises his floor. But also has one of the highest ceilings of any prospect in the country, thanks to his blend of size and athleticism.”

Walker’s recruitment was straightforward at first, as he committed to Michigan over South Carolina on July 1 after logging official visits. There wasn’t much buzz around his pledge for the first few months after, but as National Signing Day drew near, the Gamecocks appeared more and more like a threat.

North Carolina was also in pursuit entering December, but South Carolina seized the momentum. His father is a part of the Gamecocks’ strength staff and that helped seal the deal for the SEC program, which pulled off the flip on Dec. 4.

“The fact that my father is there is always the most important thing to me,” Walker previously told Rivals. “He has trained and developed me my whole life. I’m most familiar with the weight room and how they do things. I know I’ll be developed physically at a high level. Then there’s Sterling Lucas, he’s my guy. He the one who stays in contact with me, and it’s not just ball.”

His stock soared during his senior season and he backed it up with a big performance at the Navy All-American Bowl. Walker headlines South Carolina’s 2026 recruiting class alongside Darius Gray, one of the top interior offensive lineman in the cycle.
