Scott Starzyk, star kicker prospect, decommits from Iowa Hawkeyes
The Woodlands (Texas) kicker Scott Starzyk has decommitted from Iowa, he announced Monday evening on social media.
He had been committed to the Hawkeyes since July 18.
The 5-foot-9, 172-pound Starzyk is the nation’s No. 1 kicker prospect per Kohl’s Kicking.
“Thank You lowa I want to thank the University of Iowa and especially Coach Woods and Coach Ferentz for the opportunity to play football for the Hawkeyes,” Starzyk wrote in a statement. “However, I’m officially decommitting from the University of Iowa.”

Starzyk’s lead recruiter was LeVar Woods.
“I like how detailed Coach Woods is with the specialists and every decision that he makes,” Starzyk said at the time of his commitment. “Also, the consistency within the program due to Coach Ferentz’s long tenure as head coach.”
Iowa currently holds the No. 33 recruiting class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Elite defensive lineman Iose Epenesa headlines the class along with blue-chip prospects Burke Gautcher, Thomas Meyer and Carson Cooney.
