Michigan completes flip of LB Aden Reeder following weekend visit

Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier linebacker prospect Aden Reeder decommitted from Wisconsin on Monday evening. Michigan began to trend for the Buckeye State prospect and he’s now committed to the Wolverines.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Reeder took an official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend. It was a trip that included the Wolverines victory over Wisconsin.

Reeder had been a verbal to the Badgers since May but an offer from Michigan this fall saw the Maize and Blue rise quickly. Now Reeder is in the fold.

“Michigan is a great school academically and athletically and being a kid from Ohio I grew up knowing all about the history and players that Michigan has developed,” Reeder said.

Reeder adds to a Michigan class the Rivals Industry previously ranked No. 10 nationally.

“We got a couple guys up there right now in Ted Hammond and Chase Herbstreit,” St. Xavier head coach Steve Specht said. “I know he spent some time with both of those guys and both of those guys love it up there. It’s a great school and great tradition of football. If my guys love it up there, it’s says something is special about the University of Michigan football program.”

Tabbed by Rivals as the nation’s No. 33 linebacker regardless of position, Specht says this is a special pickup for Michigan.

“The sky is the limit for Aden,” Reeder said. “He has grown a boatload in the past two years. He went from playing the free safety position for us as a sophomore and we moved him to linebacker last year and the difference from last year physically to what he looks like today is tremendous. You look at his body frame, he’s still growing. He’s going to put more weight on. I think he’s going to grow himself into a five-tech, rush end.

“Has great change of direction. He’s explosive. Very fast-twitch. My god I think what separates Aden is his explosiveness off the ball and ability to rush the passer. And he’s just getting bigger and better. He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know yet. He’s learning every day and his best football is in front of him.”
