Maryland beats Virginia Tech for in-state WR Jayden Kitchens

Clinton (Md.) Rock Creek Christian Academy wide receiver Jayden Kitchens was offered by Maryland almost two years ago. He picked up over 20 offers and after going through the recruiting process, he has committed to the in-state school.

“Maryland really started recruiting me hard this past year and they have been consistent,” Kitchens told Rivals. “I chose Maryland over Virginia Tech for many reasons. I like how Maryland throws the ball a lot and how they want to use me in the slot and move me around because they want to show my versatility.”

Kitchens saw what Tai Felton and Kaden Prather did last season for Maryland, so he loves the offense. He is excited about Malik Washington as the future quarterback too.

The staff has created a strong bond as well.

“I have the best relationship with coach Aazaar. He’s recruited me at Boston College and Maryland, so we have been in touch for a long time. He’s very real, and he is from the area, so that is great. Coach Aiazaar is very loyal and he looks out for his guys.

“I like coach Locks (Mike Locksley) as well. He is very open and you can talk to him and coach Azar as a real human, not just as a coach. I like how coach Locks in from the DMV too.”

Kitchens will continue to listen to other schools, but it will take a lot to change his mind.

“I’m not going to completely shut my recruitment down yet, but I am definitely locked in with the crib,” Kitchens said. “All my life, I never thought I would stay home when I committed, but I really locked into it and realized Maryland wasnt too close to home, but just far enough.”
