4-star RB Armand Hill decommits from West Virginia

West Mifflin (Pa.) Area High School running back Armand Hill, a four-star prospect in the 2027 class, decommitted from West Virginia on Thursday night. Hill had been committed to the Mountaineers since March 2025.

Hill earned an early offer from West Virginia after rushing for more than 3,200 yards and 43 touchdowns in his first two seasons in high school. He chose the Mountaineers over offers from programs such as Michigan, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Maryland and Syracuse.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound standout was thought to be an ideal fit for what Rich Rodriguez wants to do with the WVU offense.

“Hill is a dynamic athlete who possesses excellent vision, cutting ability, and speed, making him a near-perfect match for what the Mountaineers want to do on offense,” WVSports.com’s Keenan Cummings wrote last summer. “He is a threat to score every time he touches the football and that will be a strong fit for Rich Rodriguez’s offense.”

Hill’s decommitment leaves the Mountaineers with zero pledges in their 2027 class. The program suffered an earlier hit to its 2027 efforts in November with the decommitment of three-star linebacker Minikon Johnson.

Hill is ranked No. 305 overall and No. 23 at his position in the 2027 Rivals Industry Rankings.

West Virginia has strong showing under Rich Rod

Rich Rodriguez’ 2026 class may be the most surprising haul in the Big 12, as West Virginia currently sits No. 21 overall and No. 2 in the conference in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Headlined by four-star interior offensive lineman Kevin Brown, four-star safety Matt Sieg and four-star running back Amari Latimier, the Mountaineers are set to welcome a massive influx of newcomers to Morgantown for the 2026 football season.

This marks the program’s highest finish in the recruiting rankings since Dana Holgorsen‘s 2013 class ranked No. 20 nationally.
