4-star PG Marcus Johnson decommits from Ohio State
Marcus Johnson, a four-star point guard in the 2026 class, has decided to decommit from Ohio State, his father Sonny Johnson told Rivals.
Johnson had been committed to the Buckeyes since he was a sophomore, pledging to the in-state program in April of 2024.
Johnson, a 6-foot-2 senior out of Garfield Heights (OH), is the reigning Ohio Mr. Basketball winner. Johnson and his father, Sonny, made history as the first father-son duo to ever earn the Mr. Basketball honor in Ohio. Sonny won the away back in 1998 while starring at Garfield Heights before continuing his college career at Cleveland State and Ohio University.
In his junior season, he averaged 29.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.
Johnson is ranked as the No. 45 overall player in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 7 ranked point guard in the country.
