4-star LB Terry Wiggins decommits from Penn State, flips to Virginia Tech

Coatesville (Pa.) four-star linebacker Terry Wiggins has decommitted from Penn State and flipped his pledge to Virginia Tech.

He was committed to the Nittany Lions since May 2, but is now in the fold with the Hokies after they hired ex-PSU head coach James Franklin last month.

Wiggins is the No. 243 overall prospect and No. 12 LB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 recruit in the Keystone State.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder was one of the many top in-state prospects that locked in with the Big Ten program. Kentucky, Syracuse and Cincinnati were other finalists for the blue-chipper this spring. Wiggins felt wanted by the PSU staff and opted to lock in before logging summer official visits.

Once Franklin was fired though, Wiggins reopened his process while still remaining committed. He took an official visit to Blacksburg — along with a number of current and former Nittany Lions commits — as well as trips to West Virginia, North Carolina and Colorado.

Ultimately, his connection with Franklin and the staff at Virginia Tech won out, netting them another big addition to their signing class.
