2027 4-star athlete Alexander Ward commits to Colorado, Deion Sanders
Four-star 2027 IMG Academy (Fla.) athlete Alexander Ward, who decommitted from Alabama last month, has found a new home. And it includes a familiar face.
Ward gave his verbal commitment to Colorado on Tuesday, joining his brother Christian Ward, who is committed to the Buffaloes in the Class of 2026. The younger Ward had been pledged to the Crimson Tide for nearly a year when he decided to reopen his recruitment on October 20.
Earlier this fall, he picked up an offer from CU, and the Buffs moved to the top of his recruitment quickly.
Ward, originally from Marietta (Ga.), transferred to national powerhouse IMG Academy (Fla.) ahead of his junior season. According to MaxPreps, he has totaled seven tackles across six games for the Ascenders this season.

As a sophomore at Marietta Walton, Ward caught nine passes for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he tallied 18 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and two interceptions.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder is the No. 216 overall prospect in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 10 athlete and the No. 22 recruit in the Sunshine State.
Ward is the first commitment for the Buffaloes in the junior class. CU’s 2026 crop ranks No. 52 nationally and No. 11 in the Big 12, a significant drop-off from their 2025 group, which ranked No. 35.
