2026 DL Landen Anderson decommits from Oklahoma State

Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe three-star defensive lineman Landen Anderson has decommitted from Oklahoma State, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

Pledged to the in-state program since July 12, the 6-foot-5, 247-pounder has backed off his commitment amidst an awful beginning to the 2025 season in Stillwater that led to the firing of head coach Mike Gundy. He is also a former Kansas commit.

Anderson is the No. 479 overall prospect and No. 49 DL in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 7 player in Oklahoma.

With Anderson now out of the class, Oklahoma State has lost seven commitments since the firing of Gundy. The Cowboys’ class is down to eight commits and now ranks No. 91 nationally, per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Gundy and the OSU staff had done a good job recruiting in-state talent this cycle and Anderson was one of the top Sooner State stars that chose the Big 12 program this summer. He originally chose KU in January and is now looking for his third college commitment.

Baylor, Maryland, Houston and Iowa State are among the other programs that have previously offered Anderson. He was one of the top five commits in Oklahoma State’s 2026 class before the Cowboys’ stunning home loss to Tulsa on Sept. 19.

Who’s left in Oklahoma State’s 2026 class?

As the Big 12 program enters a new era in Stillwater, it will try to retain some talent in the class, though that’ll prove to be challenging. However, of the eight commits still in the fold, two are blue-chippers.

Wynne (Ark.) Cross County four-star defensive lineman Danny Beale and Owasso (Okla.) four-star DL Tajh Overton remain committed, as of Sept. 29. Beale is a top-200 recruit and the No. 1 player in Arkansas, while Overton is the No. 2 player in Oklahoma. They are the No. 20 and No. 30 D-linemen in the nation, respectively.

The rest of the Oklahoma State class to date includes: Carthage (Mo.) EDGE Landon Bland, Bixby (Okla.) cornerback Braeden Presley, Crowley (Texas) corner Brandon Ford, Owasso (Okla.) safety Carter Langenderfer, Lehi (Utah) tight end Bryton Niu and Orangevale (Calif.) Folsom interior offensive lineman Sunia Vuki.

Gundy was admittedly slow to adapt to the changing landscape of college football and the Cowboys’ recruiting efforts suffered as a result. Oklahoma State’s 2026 class ranked No. 49 nationally and No. 9 in the Big 12 according to the Rivals Industry Team Rankings, a significant step back from the back-to-back top-30 classes the Cowboys inked in 2021 and 2022.
