2026 CB Braylon Edwards commits to SMU Mustangs
Duncanville (Texas) three-star cornerback Braylon Edwards is staying home.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder has committed to SMU, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett, choosing the Mustangs over reported offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Wisconsin, Utah and others. The local school has been trending as the favorite in his recruitment for some time, as he’s been on campus at SMU numerous times over the past year.
He set official visits with the Razorbacks, Tigers, Badgers and Utes for later this summer, but he took his OV with the Mustangs this weekend and decided to shut things down and commit.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Edwards is the No. 1090 overall prospect and No. 98 cornerback in the 2026 class.
On3, however, is higher on him than other services. In the most recent rankings update, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 74 cornerback and No. 109 player in the Lone Star State.

He is the eighth commitment for the Mustangs this cycle, joining four-star wide receiver Aljour Miles four-star running back Christian Rhodes, four-star wideout Xzavier Barnett, three-star safety Markel Ford, three-star EDGE, Amontre Harris, quarterback Cole Leinart and defensive lineman Keith Dotie.
Edwards is also the seventh player from inside the state’s borders to commit to Rhett Lashlee and Co., with the California-based Leinart the only non-Texan in the class.
