Tyler Huntley injury: Dolphins QB suffers shoulder injury vs. Colts

Miami Dolphins (2-3) quarterback Tyler Huntley exited Sunday’s Week 7 road matchup against the Indianapolis Colts (3-3) after suffering a shoulder injury in the third quarter.

Huntley is out for the remainder of the game. Tim Boyle has replaced Huntley under center.

Huntley, making his third consecutive start, completed 7-of-13 passes for 87 yards and one touchdown before leaving the game. The 26-year-old has been filling in for Tua Tagovailoa, sidelined since suffering a concussion in Week 2.

The offense, No. 1 ranked in 2023, has fallen of a cliff in 2024. Miami entered Sunday’s game averaging just 12.0 points per game, worst in the NFL.

Dolphins lose Tyler Huntley, struggling on offense without Tua Tagovailoa

With only 10 points through three quarters and change against the Colts, the offense does not look primed for improvement until Tagovailoa returns. He is eligible to return to practice on Oct. 23, though time will tell if he actually does or not. Head coach Mike McDaniel has continued to refer to the medical experts and is not rushing Tagovailoa back despite Miami’s offense floundering without him.

“Tua’s done a great job of getting something out of a situation that is obviously not ideal,” McDaniel said Friday. “You don’t get to choose what you go through, but you get to choose how you handle things. He’s been unbelievably diligent. He’s been a leader while doing it.”
