Tom Brady on Bill Belichick Hall of Fame snub: 'May as well go try out for the Oscars'
Tom Brady gave his first reaction to Bill Belichick being snubbed from the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot Wednesday. If you’re a fan of how the Oscars, or other award shows go about their voting process, then listen to this!
Belichick did not reach the 40 of 50 votes required to get into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot. It’s unlikely this happens again next year, but him not getting in caused quite the stir across football and sports circles this week.
Brady gave a note to voter Armando Salguero ahead of the voting process as well. But that didn’t make a difference in the end.
“I don’t understand it,” Brady told Mike Salk and Brock Huard on Seattle Sports. “I mean, I was with him every day, if he’s not a first ballot Hall of Famer, there’s really no coach that should ever be a first ballot Hall of Famer, which is completely ridiculous, because people deserve it. And he’s incredible.
“There’s no coach I’d rather play for. If I’m taking one coach to go out there to win a Super Bowl, give me one season, I’m taking Bill Belichick. So that’s enough said. There’s nothing outside of that, you know, again, when it comes down to votes, and you know, popularity and all that, like you know, then welcome to the world of voting. And we may as well go, you know, try out for the Oscars or whatever. And, you know, get a big panel to tell you if you’re good or not. So it’s the way it works.”

Brady conceded that Belichick will get into the Hall of Fame eventually, next year or afterwards. He maintained the legendary head coach will be celebrated when the time comes, during or after his time with North Carolina.
“And unfortunately, you know, he’s going to get into the Hall of Fame in the end, I’m not worried about that,” Brady said. you know, and a lot of times in life, you know, for all of us, you know things don’t happen exactly how you want to run your timeline, but we’ll all be there to celebrate him when it does happen.
“And he’s going to have a huge turnout from so many players and coaches that appreciated everything that he did and the commitment that he made to winning and the impact that he had on all our lives, and that’ll be a great celebration when it happens.”
