Kenneth Walker III is headed to a new home following his Super Bowl-winning campaign. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the former Seattle Seahawks running back is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency.

“Former Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III is signing with the Chiefs, sources tell The Insiders,” Pelissero reported. “A payday and a new home for the Super Bowl MVP on a deal.”

Walker’s move comes just weeks after he delivered the performance of his career on the biggest stage in football. The former Michigan State Spartans football star was named Super Bowl MVP after helping lead Seattle to a 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots.

Walker rushed 27 times for 135 yards in the championship game, averaging 5.0 yards per carry. He also added two receptions for 26 yards while dominating early, recording 94 rushing yards in the first half, the most in a Super Bowl first half since at least 1991.

Despite the storybook ending to the season, Seattle opted not to place the franchise tag on Walker, making him a true unrestricted free agent when the new league year began. Reports indicated the Seahawks had several other contract priorities this offseason, including efforts to extend standout wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

That decision opened the door for Walker to explore the market, and the Chiefs quickly emerged as a landing spot for the dynamic running back.

Walker finished the 2025 regular season with 221 carries for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per rush. He also contributed as a receiver, catching 31 passes for 282 yards.

Across four seasons in Seattle, Walker compiled 3,555 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns while averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He also added 133 receptions for 1,005 yards and two receiving scores.

Now joining the Chiefs, Walker will look to build on his breakout year and help Kansas City remain among the NFL’s elite: “It’s a dream come true,” Walker said earlier this postseason. “A lot of people play their whole career and never make it this far.”

With Kansas City adding the Super Bowl MVP to its roster, the Chiefs are hoping Walker can help power another championship run in the seasons ahead. We’ll see if it comes to fruition.
