According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Teddy Bridgewater is heading back to the Detroit Lions. Bridgewater spent two seasons in Detroit, serving as the backup to Jared Goff in 2023 and 2024. While only one appearance was made, his presence clearly made a difference. Now, the Lions are getting Bridgewater back in the mix.

Bridgewater spent the 2025 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Four appearances popped up for him but only one provided real action. He completed eight of 15 passes for 62 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. A rush attempt for six yards also took place, while Bridgewater took two sacks. Baker Mayfield had started the game before leaving due to an injury.

“Obviously, he brings experience, but he brings a wealth of knowledge — he can command the offense right now,” Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said of Bridgewater before the 2025 season. “Him being older has a lot to do with it, but him being accurate and understanding what we’re trying to do has a lot to do with it as well.”

The last start for Bridgewater came during the 2022 season with the Miami Dolphins. Before then, the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos had Bridgewater as their starter. New Orleans and Minnesota are the other two stops of the quarterback’s career.

Detroit is a repeat stop but opens the door for campaign No. 12. Details on the contract Bridgewater has agreed to has not yet been reported on.

Detroit Lions lock up running back Isaiah Pacheco

Two-time Super Bowl champion running back Isiah Pacheco is signing with the Detroit Lions, Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday afternoon.

Pacheco replaces veteran back David Montgomery (who was traded to the Houston Texans) alongside All-Pro running back Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit’s backfield. Across four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Pacheco rushed for 2,537 yards and 14 touchdowns.

A return to Kansas City for Pacheco became extremely tough to see on Monday, as the Chiefs made a massive free agency splash by signing Super Bowl LX MVP running back Kenneth Walker. Many expected Walker to depart Seattle for a massive payday, and Kansas City had been seen as one of the frontrunners. Pacheco had become unreliable for Andy Reid‘s team over the past two seasons, making the decision an easy one for the front office.
