Report: Demarcus Robinson to be suspended for violating NFL substance abuse policy
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson is facing a three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports. Maiocco says the possible suspension would stem from Robinson’s arrest and DUI charge in November in Southern California.
Demarcus Robinson, who played for the Los Angeles Rams last year, was charged with one count of misdemeanor DUI in January. He was arrested on Nov. 25 for suspicion of DUI after officers observed him driving more than 100 mph in a white Dodge sedan on US-101. The Rams did not suspend Robinson after he was arrested.
“I think it was a bad decision he made. I don’t think that makes him a bad person. And I do believe this is something that with the words that he said, our guys will learn from it, and hopefully nobody’s ever going to repeat something like this,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said, per ESPN.
Demarcus Robinson is entering his 10th NFL season
Robinson played in all 17 games for the Rams last year and caught 31 passes for 505 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns. In March, the former Florida Gators star signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the 49ers. He will add depth to the wide receiver group after the 49ers traded Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders.
