Pat McAfee has revealed whether his show will be part of the Masters Tournament coverage this year. On The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee shared that the Masters denied him from covering the event.

“We have attempted to be a part of the Wednesday coverage of the Masters at the Par 3 thing for three consecutive years now,” Pat McAfee said. “And for the people that are mad about Jason Kelce being a part of the Masters, I’ve got a good piece of news for you: they’ve told us to go to hell.

“So I think you should be happy about that, that they do try to preserve it as a whole. They have a certain thing that they are looking for. So I think Jason Kelce, who’s a dog, who’s funny, who’s relatable, and is a good athlete, and he’s probably friends with a lot of these guys that are going to be golfing there, I think he will provide a bonus for that Par 3 coverage. But to the people that are upset, saying that the Masters are the only thing you got left, know that they’ve turned us down very loudly numerous times, which I think should be good news for the state of their golf in the way they view it all.”

Why did the Masters deny Pat McAfee?

It was announced this week that Kelce will cover the Masters Par 3 Contest and will interview the golfers and their families for ESPN. Kelce previously served as a guest announcer for the TGL’s final three regular-season matches last month.

McAfee didn’t reveal why the Masters said no to his show, but Augusta National is strict about who covers the event. Augusta National has hosted the Masters Tournament since 1934. The Masters is the only major golf tournament played at the same golf course.

This year’s Masters will take place from Apr. 9-12. It will be the 90th edition of the tournament, and some of the golfers expected to participate are past winners Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, and last year’s champion Rory McIlroy. Tiger Woods was looking to make his return to golf at this year’s Masters, but he will seek treatment following his DUI arrest last week.
