Nick Emmanwori injury update: Seahawks star DB reveals his status for Super Bowl LX
Seattle Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori just gave an update on his health ahead of the matchup against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. While speaking to reporters on Thursday, Emmaanwori said he expects to play in the championship game despite dealing with an ankle injury.
“I’ll be ready to go,” Emmanwori said, per Omar Ruiz of the NFL Network. Emmanwori suffered the injury at the end of practice on Wednesday, and Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald revealed that it was a low-ankle sprain.
“He rolled his ankle yesterday, and he’s got a low ankle sprain,” Macdonald said, per John Boyle of Seahawks.com. “He’s going to do the walkthrough today, not sure how extensive, if at all, he’s going to practice. But he’s confident, we’ve got a great plan, fully expect him to play… He’s doing great and moving around. We’ve just got to make sure we handle it the right way. We’re probably going to be overly careful and over-cautious at this point to make sure we’re rolling going into the weekend.”

“It was just towards the end of practice, I just rolled my ankle,” Emmanwori added. “It kind of caught me off guard. The practice wasn’t anything crazy; we weren’t going hard out there, but I just rolled it. I’ll be good to go for Sunday, so I’m looking forward to that.”

This is big news for the Seahawks, as Emmanwori had a strong 2025 season. After the team selected him in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Emmanwori recorded 81 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and 11 passes defended in 14 regular-season games. His production led to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) naming him to the All-Rookie Team.
It’s not a big surprise seeing Emmanwori make an impact with the Seahawks, considering what he did at South Carolina. In 2024, the 21-year-old was selected to the All-SEC and All-America First Team after collecting 88 tackles, three tackles for loss, and four interceptions with two returned for touchdowns.
