It was a long of tough day of work for Matthew Stafford on Sunday. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback fought until the end, but ultimately couldn’t muster up enough to lead his team to a win in the NFC Championship.

Stafford was surely feeling disappointment with the results after the 31-27 loss, just a few plays away from going back to the Super Bowl. But at the end of the day he has plenty more in his life to be thankful for. He was reminded of that when he got back home early Monday morning.

The QB’s wife, Kelly, shared a video on social media of Stafford tucking his four young daughters into bed. It showed a personal side to the QB after one of the toughest losses of his career.

Stafford finished Sunday’s contest 22-of-35 passing for 374 yards and three touchdowns. He nearly led the Rams to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, but turned it over on downs at the Seahawks 6-yard line with 4:59 remaining. LA would not get the ball back until there were only 25 seconds remaining, and though Stafford managed a pair of completions, he couldn’t beat the clock.

Stafford is coming off of a season in which he led the NFL with 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns to only eight interceptions. The touchdown number was a career high for the QB, whom many believe should take home the first MVP award of his career.

Regardless of whether or not that happens, he’s clearly already the MVP in the eyes of his wife and daughters. And though he surely would have liked another Super Bowl trophy, there are things that matter more.

Matthew Stafford declines to answer question on future following NFC title loss vs. Seahawks

Stafford declined to answer questions regarding the future of his career following a loss in the NFC Championship on Sunday evening, per Nate Atkins of The Athletic. The veteran quarterback just wrapped up his 17th NFL season and his fifth with the Rams.

Stafford also won a Super Bowl with the Rams in the 2021 season, which was his first in Los Angeles. He previously spent 12 years with the Detroit Lions before being traded.

Matthew Stafford ranks sixth in NFL history with 64,516 yards passing and ranks second among active players behind only Aaron Rodgers. He’s certainly already cemented himself as one of the better QBs in league history given those numbers and the Super Bowl win. If he wins MVP this season, it would only further his case.

Stafford is still under contract for one more season, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him return to finish that out given how close he got to winning another Super Bowl this year. But we’ll wait for confirmation from the QB himself on his future plans.
