Lamar Jackson injury update: QB heads to locker room vs. Patriots, Ravens update status
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson left early for the locker room near the end of the first half Sunday night against the New England Patriots. Tyler Huntley entered the game in his place.
The injury occurred as Jackson was on the run before sliding and looked awkward as he went to the ground. NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark revealed that it is a back injury and he is questionable to return.
“We just got word that is is questionable to return with a back injury,” Stark said. “He had a really hard time getting up those stairs and coming back down those stairs to go back to the locker room. Was grimacing in pain. It has been an injury filled year for him.”
Jackson was still not on the field when the second half began. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said on the broadcast that he was still be worked on and stretching out attempting to return.
For now, however, the Ravens will have to lean on Huntley in this pivotal conference matchup. Huntley has started 10 games during his career in Baltimore as the backup to Jackson and is 4-6 in those contests.

“It really won’t change the game plan that much offensively,” Harbaugh said of Huntley being in the game. “Tyler does everything Lamar does if he as to play. But we’ll see what happens.”
Lamar Jackson has been hampered by injuries all season long. He missed three games earlier this year after suffering a hamstring injury and returning in Week 9. Jackson has played every week since then despite dealing with a few more bumps and bruises along with way.
The QB was coming off of a career season in 2024 in which he passed for 4,172 yards and 41 touchdowns to only four interceptions. However, the injuries have taken their toll on him this season as he had only 2,210 yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions entering Sunday’s contest.
The Ravens were 7-7 on the season entering this game and need every win they can get in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. We’ll see whether Huntley can lead them to a win and keep them in the hunt. Jackson was officially ruled out for the game late in the third quarter, so it will be all Huntley from here on out.
