Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love left Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bears after taking a hard hit in the second quarter. Helmet-to-helmet contact occurred on the play, and Bears edge rusher Austin Booker was flagged for a roughing the passer penalty.

Love was immediately taken to the injury tent for further evaluation and later was seen making his way back to the locker room. Backup quarterback Malik Willis entered the game in Love’s place with the Packers leading 3-0 and 8:21 remaining in the second quarter.

The roughing the passer penalty was the second of the evening for Booker. Green Bay would go on to score a field goal on the drive to go up 6-0 after Willis entered the game.

FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews later revealed that Love was being evaluated for a concussion. He was later ruled out for the game coming out of the second half with the Packers holding a 6-0 lead.

Prior to his exit, Love was 8-of-13 passing for 77 yards. He had thrown for 3,304 yards and 23 touchdowns with six interceptions entering Saturday’s contest.

With Jordan Love sidelined, the Packers will turn to Willis to get them through this pivotal divisional matchup. The winner will claim sole possession of first place in the NFC North with only two more weeks remaining in the regular season.

Willis is a fourth-year player out of Liberty who has made five starts in his career, including two since joining the Packers in 2024. His best performance came in Week 3 of the 2024 season against the Tennessee Titans, where he finished 13-of-19 passing for 202 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions in addition to 73 yards rushing and another score on the ground.

Green Bay has been snake bitten by the injury bug this season. That bad luck came to a head last Sunday night when All-Pro defensive end Micah Parsons tore his ACL in Green Bay’s 34-26 loss to the Denver Broncos. Parsons is just one of a handful of impactful players to miss extended time this season for the Packers, including Pro Bowl center Elgton Jenkins and tight end Tucker Kraft.

We’ll see whether Willis can deliver another win Saturday as he steps in for the injured Love. With the division title on the line, he’ll need an exceptional performance.
