The Washington Commanders delivered some positive news on Halloween. According to the team, quarterback Jayden Daniels will return to the starting lineup when the franchise takes on the Seattle Seahawks this coming Sunday.

Daniels missed this past Monday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a hamstring injury. He also missed another two games this season due to a knee injury. In five games this year, Daniels has completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,031 yards with eight touchdowns and one interception. He has also rushed for 211 yards and one TD on 44 carries.

Marcus Mariota has filled in for Daniels this year, but he hasn’t been able to match the play of the team’s star quarterback. His memorable rookie season in 2024 set the bar high, as Daniels completed 69% of his passes for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.

Daniels also rushed for 891 yards and six touchdowns and helped the Commanders get to the NFC Championship game. Now, he’ll be hoping to return Washington to its winning ways as he’s back in the lineup against Seattle.

More on the Washington Commanders, injury issues

While Daniels is returning, the Commanders will be without one of their top playmakers on Sunday. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that star wide receiver Terry McLaurin will not play against the Seahawks after re-injuring his quad during this past week’s game.

The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who shared the update on X: “#Commanders WR Terry McLaurin will be out Sunday after re-injuring his quad, Dan Quinn said.” It’s a tough setback for the veteran receiver, who had just returned to action in Week 8 after missing more than a month.”

McLaurin looked sharp in his comeback game Monday night, catching three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. It appeared the 30-year-old was rounding back into form after his recovery from the initial injury sustained. However, it’s evident some pain resurfaced, and that’s prompted the Commanders’ medical staff to rule him out.

With McLaurin sidelined again, Quinn and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury will have to adjust their game plan to keep pace with a Seattle team that’s been dominant at times in 2025. The Commanders’ depth will be tested, and how they respond could go a long way in determining whether Washington can stay competitive in the NFC playoff hunt.
