Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter arrested for allegedly assaulting girlfriend
Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter has reportedly been arrested for assaulting his girlfriend. ABC News reported on the situation.
Authorities arrested Porter in New York City. He allegedly returned to the Millennium Hotel early Monday morning and his girlfriend was upset with his late-night outing and locked the door.
Hotel personnel assisted Porter in entering his hotel room. It’s alleged that he later assaulted his girlfriend. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.
Per the report, domestic assault charges are pending against Porter.
“Upon arrival officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain to her neck,” a police spokesperson said, per ESPN. “A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck.”

The woman was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.
Following the news, the Rockets also released a statement regarding the situation.
“We are in the process of gathering information surrounding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr.,” the team said. “We have no further comment at this time.”
Porter was a first-round selection in the 2019 NBA Draft. He has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Rockets. The guard played college basketball at USC.
Porter signed a four-year contract worth up to $82.5 million last season. Only $15.9 million comes guaranteed this season.
