Hall of Fame voter shares note from Tom Brady during Bill Belichick selection process
Hall of Fame voter Armando Salguero shared a note from Tom Brady regarding Bill Belichick’s candidacy for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In the aftermath of Belichick reportedly not getting enough votes to get in on the first ballot. Salguero was floored.
He claimed Spygate was the biggest culprit and whether or not you believe Bill Polian, that’s another story. As the saga rolls on months before the 2026 enshrinement ceremony, Salguero shared the sentiment of the greatest quarterback of all time, who won six Super Bowls with the aforementioned head coach.
“I don’t believe that any coach in the history of the game has done more to earn his place in the Hall of Fame than Bill Belichick,” Brady said in his note, via Salguero. “To say that he was my greatest coaching influence would be an understatement. His tremendous leadership, vision, and daily discipline allowed our team to excel in nearly every area for almost 2 decades. We were consistently competitive at the highest level every week as he challenged us to grow from the day that season started to the day it ended. That’s the role of the head coach and that’s Bill Belichick.
“I had a front row seat for 20 years watching the greatest coach of all time prepare, teach, and lead. He set the standard every single day. His mindset, his consistency, his ability to adapt and evolve — was unmatched. He expected a championship level standard from everyone in the building, and he got it. That’s why we won! And that’s why he belongs in Canton. I’m grateful for what we accomplished together, and I’ll always be proud of the team we built. No one’s more deserving of this honor than Coach Belichick.”

Across his career as a head coach with the Patriots and assistant coach with the New York Giants, Belichick won eight Super Bowls. He became regarded as one of the top coaches of all-time, and 2026 marked his first year on the Hall of Fame ballot.
Belichick was informed of the Hall of Fame’s decision last Friday and was “puzzled” and “disappointed” after failing to get 80% of the votes, ESPN reported. The full list of inductees is set to be announced next week ahead of Super Bowl LX.
On the whole, during his legendary coaching career, Belichick had a 302-165 overall record to go with a 31-13 mark in the postseason. His 302 regular-season wins put him third all-time behind George Halas (318) and Don Shula (328) on the all-time winningest coaches list. Counting the postseason, Belichick sits just behind Shula’s 347 total victories on the all-time list.
