The Carolina Panthers have likely lost offensive lineman Brady Christensen for the rest of the season. Panthers head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Sunday that Christensen suffered an Achilles tear during the game against the Buffalo Bills.

“Unfortunately, Brady Christensen’s got an Achilles,” Canales told reporters after the loss, per Panthers Wire. “It’s a significant one. He’s gonna be out. We’re gonna miss him a lot. And just gives me a chance to talk about what he’s meant to this group—the flexibility to play all across the line, in different spots, then playing great football for us. So we’re really gonna miss Brady.”

The injury happened early in the fourth quarter after quarterback Andy Dalton threw an incomplete pass. Brady Christensen was not able to put any weight on his leg and was carted off the field.

The Panthers selected Christensen in the third round (No. 70) overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. It is believed that the 29-year-old is the only player in franchise history to start games at all five offensive line positions.

Brady Christensen talks about playing at right guard

Earlier in the season, Christensen talked about playing at right guard. “The right side technically is a little bit harder because I played most of my career on the left side, right?” Christensen said in early October, per the Panthers’ official website. “So, like getting your hands right and your feet right is a tad harder. And then center obviously is hardest mentally, to get everyone on the same page, communication-wise, that was the biggest adjustment.”

“He’s really tough,” Canales said about Christensen. “He’s very intelligent, he’s willing, he wants to win. He wants to help the team in any way possible. We use him as a big tight end. We’ve played him at center, at guard, the tackle spots, all those things. And we can count on him because he studies, he does the work, and he’s ready to go, and I love his willingness to just help the team in whatever way possible.”

The Panthers fell to the Bills on Sunday, 40-9. They are now 4-4 on the year and will face the Green Bay Packers next Sunday.
