Texas A&M transfer guard Pop Isaacs commits to Oklahoma
Texas A&M transfer guard Pop Isaacs has committed to Oklahoma. On3’s Joe Tipton reported the news. Oklahoma will mark Isaacs’ fourth program in five seasons.
Across four seasons of college basketball (two at Texas Tech, one at Creighton, and one at Texas A&M), Isaacs boasts career averages of 12.8 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. He was named a Third Team All-Big 12 selection at Texas Tech in 2024.
The Las Vegas native scored in double figures in 17 games last season for the Aggies. His best game came in A&M’s 90-88 win over Auburn on Jan. 6, in which he scored a season-high 21 points with five assists.
Oklahoma heading into sixth season of Porter Moser era
Isaacs heads to an Oklahoma program led by head coach Porter Moser, who will be returning for his sixth season in Norman. Last season, the Sooners compiled a 21-16 (7-11) record and just missed out on the NCAA Tournament. They, however, finished as the runner-ups in the College Basketball Crown Tournament.
“He is one of the good guys in our profession,” Hall of Fame coach John Calipari said about Moser, following Oklahoma‘s loss to Arkansas in the 2026 SEC Tournament. “You all know his career, what he’s done. I say when you have a guy like him, then the administration’s got to do their thing and put it around him. I always say coaches win games. Administrations win championships. I’ve said that for as long as I’ve coached.

“We can do our thing, but they are going to win a championship because they choose to. They choose to invest in it. They choose to do all the things that a championship team has to have and needs to have. He’s a championship coach. I mean, he is. He is a terrific guy.”
He becomes Oklahoma‘s third addition out of the Portal, joining Utah Valley guard Tyler Hendricks, and Louisville forward Khani Rooths. Following the season, the Sooners lost four players to the Portal (forward Kuol Atak, guard Jake Hansen, forward Andreas Holst, and guard Jeff Nwankwo).
Under Moser’s leadership, Oklahoma is 95-75 across five seasons. The Sooners have made the NCAA Tournament just once in that span, losing to No. 8 seed UConn in the First Round of the 2025 Tournament.
