Quinn Ewers injury update: Texas QB's status officially revealed vs. Oklahoma on Thursday report
It’s another day closer to the Red River Showdown and another SEC injury report is out for the respective squads. And the biggest news for Texas fans is that quarterback Quinn Ewers will be back in his starting role, head coach Steve Sarkisian announced on Thursday.
Ewers has been on ice for a few weeks now since an abdominal injury in Week 3. He seemed poised to return this week for the massive rivalry showdown with Oklahoma, being listed as probable on Wednesday and seeing that condition stay steady into Thursday.

“Sources: Oklahoma leading wide receiver Deion Burks is not expected to play against No. 1 Texas this weekend,” Thamel said. “He’d been listed as questionable.”

Burks missed Oklahoma’s last game at Auburn due to a soft-tissue injury he had against Tennessee. He then had a bye week to get healthy but, in the end, apparently isn’t yet good enough to give it a go this weekend against the Longhorns. Despite being out, Burks still leads the Sooners in catches (26), receiving yards (201) and receiving touchdowns (3).
Without Burks and with a number of other wideouts banged up, the Sooners will be searching for someone to step up and make an impact in the Red River Showdown come Saturday.
