West Virginia transfer OT Johnny Williams IV commits to Missouri
Missouri has landed another football commitment out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, this time from former West Virginia offensive tackle Johnny Williams IV.
Williams appeared in seven games this past season for the Mountaineers, starting two games at left tackle — including the team’s appearance in the Frisco Bowl — before entering the portal. In his two starts, he was given a stellar 87.0 passing grade by Pro Football Focus.
The 6-foot-7, 315-pounder also played in five games in 2023 and will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Tigers. As a high schooler, he was the nation’s No. 699 recruit and No. 41 OT in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Williams is the third offensive line commit in this portal cycle for Eli Drinkwitz and Co., joining Michigan transfer Dominick Guidice and Wake Forest transfer Keagan Trost. The Tigers are looking to replace multiple starters up front, as both starting tackles have exhausted their eligibility, as did starting right guard Cam’Ron Johnson.

He is the the 12th total addition since the portal opened on December 9, joining a class that came into today ranked No. 5 in the On3 Industry Team Transfer Portal Rankings. The Tigers have already added his teammate and top linebacker Josiah Trotter, as well as quarterback Beau Pribula (Penn State), wide receiver Kevin Coleman (Mississippi State), linebacker Mikai Gbayor (Nebraska), and safety Mose Phillips (Virginia Tech), among others.
MU has also had 12 defections from its 2024 roster, most notably a trio of true freshman who signed in last year’s recruiting class.
