The regular season has concluded, and the best time in March is here. For the Big 12 and conferences around the nation, it’s time for tournaments. Stay tuned here for live updates to the 2026 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, including results, TV, and the overall bracket and schedule from Tuesday through Sunday.
Last season, Kelvin Sampson‘s Houston Cougars won the Big 12 Tournament title, their first in program history, prior to their run to the National Championship Game. Superstar guard Emanuel Sharp was named Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player, serving as a glimpse of what he’d accomplish in the Big Dance.
Houston’s run showed what can happen with a run in the Big 12 Tournament. Could they do it again, or will another conference foe step up? The bracket has officially been finalized, and it’s anyone’s guess who ends up on top this weekend.
First Round (March 10)
Game 1: No. 12 Arizona State 83, No. 13 Baylor 79 [Baylor eliminated]
Baylor‘s extremely disappointing season came to a head Tuesday afternoon as it fell to Arizona State 83-79 in the First Round of the Big 12 Tournament. With the loss, Baylor fails to reach at least the Big 12 Tournament Quarterfinals for the first time since 2011. The Sun Devils led by as many as 15 points in the second half, before Baylor made a run to pull within three with 5:47 remaining. Arizona State however then went on a 7-0 run to stretch the lead back to 10, cementing the win.
Game 2: No. 9 Cincinnati 73, No. 16 Utah 66 [Utah eliminated]
On3’s James Fletcher started Cincinnati in the ‘First Four Out’ group on Tuesday morning. In order to earn an at-large bid, some damage inside the Big 12 Tournament was needed. Losing to Utah would have been fatal, which the Bearcats avoided. Some tense moments came down the stretch, needing to hit free throws. But three different players finishing in double figures got them over the hump.
Game 3: No. 10 BYU 105, No. 15 Kansas State 91 [Kansas State eliminated]
AJ Dybantsa was not named Big 12 Player of the Year. The award instead went to Arizona’s Jaden Bradley. Well, maybe Dybantsa set out to prove a few people wrong. He put together 40 points in Tuesday’s game vs. Kansas State, setting the Big 12 Tournament freshman record. A dominating performance from Dybantsa from start to finish, with BYU pulling away late to earn a blowout victory.
Game 4: vs. No. 14 Oklahoma State 92, No. 11 Colorado 83 [Colorado eliminated]
At least from a seeding perspective, we have our first upset of the Big 12 Tournament. Oklahoma State came to Kansas City with some inconsistent play. Part of it was a loss in Boulder to this Colorado team by double digits. But revenge was applied thanks to a massive offensive nice. Anthony Roy finished with 22 points, while Christian Coleman went for a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double. The Cowboys advance to see another day.
