He mentions ole Miss and their academic requirements but that was known when UT joined their conference. I also think there is some veiled frustration that Tech is doing so well.

“At Texas, we will only take 50% of a player’s academic credit hours,” Sarkisian continues. “You may be a semester from graduating, but you’re going all the way back to 50% if you play here and want a degree. But at Ole Miss, they can take you. All you have to do is take basket weaving, and you can get an Ole Miss degree.” i am sure all the texas players are top notch scholars like vince young

Throwing in a shot at Sorsby seemed gratuitous at best.

There is no real NCAA due largely to SEC schools...they have only themselves to blame

I've always laughed at this argument. If you don't like academic requirements go to a different school or go attempt to coach in the pros. I've also come to realize no matter what the rules are someone will complain. Just watch. Let's say a true cap is put in place and athletes can opt out of class. Someone would complain that the cap isn't high enough. These coaches and schools, literally, were hoisted by their own petards

They do it. Ole Miss catching strays the last two days too. Apparently all they do over there is racist basket weaving.

You’ve always got to ask yourself why a coach chooses to do an interview/story like this, especially during the quiet news cycle May. That man either hates what his job has turned into and is complaining to try to further raise awareness for needed change or, more likely, is feeling extreme pressure from boosters to get over the hump and knows he doesn’t have the goods to deliver, especially against their schedule. This is laying the groundwork to deflect if/when he goes 9-3 again.

He's got a team with four first rounders and much more, if they don't win and win really big ... he should wear floppy shoes and a giant red nose. I also don't care what his stance is on anything. 😃

Nobody plays at Texas and wants a degree so this is a non-issue but he sure is good about making it something. He might have the best roster in the country. Going to be interesting if they do anything less than at least the CFP semis.

man, that guy is feeling the pressure lol someone get him a drink (there is a lot of "I thought this job would be easy with all this talent and resources" in his words. There is also a lot of "I hate that Texas Tech is a thing now")
