He’s a poor man’s spurrier, but like SOS he has backed it up on the field. I’m guessing that he continues doing so moving forward.

He wanted to dominate us, practiced to dominate us, then made us quit. At this point, he can say whatever he wants. The task is on us to play better vs talking(see fsu and others).

The fact he was almost 65 years old before everybody figured out he’s the “best coach in America”’ could mean something

To me, a lot of what Cignetti says and does use to only be said and done behind closed doors. Can you imagine the kind of bull jive that was said behind closed doors back in the Smart and Scott Cochran days lol. Every coach I ever met was completely different than what you see on TV. These coaches relate to players so they’re definitely not saints lol. Sometimes you’d think you’re talking to some OGs in the hood on the block at times lol.

He needs sustained success before he has that title, IMO. Could happen, but I'm not there yet. Last year was quite impressive though.

Absolutely! Has anyone ever heard of Jimbo Fisher, Gene Chizik, Larry Coker, Ed Orgeron, etc etc etc. One hit wonders!

I could be mistaken but I remember there being rumors about Cignetti not being that highly thought of as a coach while here. He may reel off a dynasty with the new landscape but I doubt it. Everything that comes out of his mouth is Saban speak. We’ll see.

I liked dealing with him when he was Alabama. Most said he was smart and worked hard. Not much else besides quirky. Never heard anything bad. But he’s been coaching for over 40 years and a head coach for 16 and until this season I cannot remember him being mentioned on BOL. Even when discussing the Saban tree. He certainly had a great season and has done well at Indiana so he deserves credit for that. Not an easy task. We will see if he can sustain. Lot of pressure on him to do so.

He has had two incredible seasons at the Power 4 level…one of those beating no one of real significance and this past year catching lightning in a bottle! He matched the perfect QB with disciplined and mature trench players! In today’s CFB environment that performance and collection of players will be hard to repeat…just like Saban’s success will never be repeated again in this era of CFB

he is 75 years old and has limited more time to beat his chest. He is smart enough to know that trolling bama = attention.

Spurrier was a preening azzhole, while Cignetti is just full-tilt autistic. I can't stand Cig, but I also doubt his ability to help it- he's just wired wrong. Spurrier was a cocky, smartass for the love of game.

My recollection is that Saban showed him the door, but let him find a job to ease the pain. He's obviously bitter.
