A Virginia high school football team is under probation for allowing two ineligible players to participate in their games during the 2025-26 season.

In a report by WSET ABC 13, the Virginia High School League banned Brookville High School from postseason play in 2026-27 and charged them with a $100 fine. Worst yet, per VHSL rules, all Brookville sports teams can be barred from competing due to this single infraction.

This decision came after the school allowed the stepchildren of former NFL tight end Logan Thomas to play during their October 17 game against Liberty. The Bees dominated that game against the Eagles, 52-8.

However, the VHSL declared the stepchildren of Thomas, also a former Brookville standout, ineligible due to transfer rule violations. Initially, the Campbell County School Board supported Brookville’s decision to let them play Virginia high school football.

A week after the questioned game, the board barred Thomas’ stepchildren from playing to avoid additional sanctions. On October 31, an independent hearing ruled that the boys can play again. Meanwhile, Campbell County Superintendent Dr. Clay Stanley claimed in a statement that other Brookville sports teams will continue playing.

Brookville finished the 2025-26 season with a 4-6 record, their third consecutive losing season. While the Bees won three of their first four games, they dropped five of their last six to close their schedule.
