Texas quarterback transfers to California power JSerra Catholic
For the second time this off-season, a big time Texas high school quarterback will taking his talents over to the state of California.
According to the Orange County Register on Wednesday, Class of 2027 signal caller Hayes Cloutier has transferred from 2024 UIL Class 6A-Division I state champion North Crowley (TX) to California powerhouse JSerra Catholic (Calif.). Cloutier had a big 2025 season with the Panthers, throwing for 2,058 yards along with 21 touchdowns and the quarterback added 323 yards on the ground plus two scores.
Cloutier becomes the second high-profile transfer to leave the Lone Star State for the Golden State, with Nash McElree transferring into Mission Viejo (Calif.) from Aledo (TX) last month.
JSerra Catholic this off-season hired former NFL linebacker Hardy Nickerson, who spent more 16 seasons in the NFL playing middle linebacker between four separate teams, as head coach. Nickerson led Bishop O’Dowd to a state title in California as the Dragons went 11-4 last season and won the CIF 5-AA championship.
