Texas high school football game drew a bigger crowd than college bowl games
Texas high school football is on a different level. The Lone Star State has an unparalleled devotion to the sport, starting from the fans to the coaches and their communities. Therefore, it’s no wonder that even their state championship game can attract more attendees than some non-College Football Playoff bowl games.
As Texas Football Life on X pointed out, the Texas high school football Class 6A Division 1 Championship between North Shore and Duncanville happened in front of 39,464 spectators.
That’s over 16,000 more than the crowd in the Bucked Up LA Bowl Hosted by Gronk (23,269), played by Washington and Boise State. Even the Class 6A Division II clash between C.E. King and winners DeSoto had more spectators (31,578).
Meanwhile, the 68 Ventures Bowl between Delaware and Louisiana drew 17,234 fans. Here is the attendance of other non-CFP bowl games.

Those in attendance during the North Shore-Duncanville matchup saw an intense battle dominated by defense. The Panthers had an opportunity to claim victory with one final drive in the final quarter. However, an incomplete pass on fourth down sealed the 10-7 win for the Mustangs and their first Texas high school football state title since 2021.
North Shore scored first when Kaleb Maryland found Jaylen Bocard on a 44-yard touchdown pass. The Mustangs made it 10-0 after a 27-yard Daniel Cruz field goal. However, Duncanville responded when Trenton Yancey lined up at quarterback and threw a scoring strike to Zachery Turner. The Panthers came up short, though, on their final possession, putting up zero points despite being on North Shore’s 26-yard line.
