South Paulding (Ga.) names Jared Zito new head football coach

Jared Zito has been named the new head football coach at South Paulding High School. He announced his arrival on Wednesday via social media.

“Great day to be a Spartan! My family and I are excited to be a part of the South Paulding family,” Zito wrote on X.

Zito takes over the Spartans after resigning from his post at Southeast Bulloch last month. He led the Yellow Jackets for five seasons and recently won 10 games in the 2024 season. Zito replaces Maurice Allen, who stepped down in November after three seasons.

South Paulding is coming off a 4-6 campaign in 2025. The Spartans finished as the No. 154 team in Georgia, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings. They often found themselves in high-scoring battles this past season.

The Spartans averaged 27 points per game but allowed over 37 points per game. They failed to win multiple games in a row last year and lost all three of their games against teams ranked inside the top 50 of the state rankings.

Across Zito’s five seasons at Southeast Bulloch, it went 31-24. The Yellow Jackets went 5-5 in 2025 and finished as the No. 217 team in the Peach State.

Zito now makes the move to Douglasville, where he’ll lead a program that’s no stranger to competing with some of the top teams in the state. The Spartans last finished with a winning record in 2022.
