Rivals 2025 Connecticut high school football Player of the Year honors
The high school football season around the country has wrapped up and with that comes honors for coaches and players from the 2025 season. One state out of the New England region that is starting to produce some impressive talent and teams from around the country is Connecticut high school football.
The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) state finals ended a couple weeks ago and we decided to get right to it when it comes to end of the year honors.
We continue into the Constitution State of Connecticut as Rivals looked through the season and selected award nominees from this past season. Who were the best players for the 2025 Connecticut high school football season, though?
Rivals give you the Connecticut high school football honorees for the 2025 season.
Player of the Year: Anthony Robinson, QB, Windsor
No player meant more to his team in the state of Connecticut than Anthony Robinson did to Windsor. The senior quarterback had a season to remember, putting up numbers that would rival many across the East Coast for signal callers. In quarterbacking Windsor to the Class MM state championship, eventually beating Bunnell, 23-13, Robinson went on a torrid pace in navigating the Warriors to a 12-1 record. Robinson finished the 2025 season completing 197 of 302 passes for 3,647 yards, 50 touchdowns and only three interceptions through the air. On the ground, Robinson was the team’s second-leading rusher with 366 yards and 11 scores. At well over 4,200 all-purpose yards and 61 touchdowns, Robinson was an easy pick here at the state’s Player of the Year.
Offensive Player of the Year: Hayden Allard, RB, Killingly
For the second straight season, Killingly running back Hayden Allard put up gaudy numbers on the ground for the Trailblazers as the senior was counted on to churn out yards en route to reaching the Class SS state championship. Allard had some impressive performances throughout the course of the 2025 Connecticut high school football season, with his best being right at the beginning of the campaign in a 41-32 win over Rhode Island’s Open Division champion Bishop Hendricken. Allard ended up rushing for 261 yards on 33 carries and scoring twice. Allard ended the season rushing for 2,141 yards on 220 carries and finding the endzone 35 times. Hard to find a player that meant more to him team offensively and did so consistently all season long.

Defensive Player of the Year: Ryan Brooks, LB, New Canaan
Playing for arguably the top defensive unit in the state of Connecticut, the senior middle linebacker proved himself on a weekly basis to be New Canaan’s top defender in the heart of the defense. Ryan Brooks, a Williams College commit, headed up a front seven unit that helped hold opponents to 90 points (6.9 points per game) through 13 games. New Canaan’s top linebacker ended the season with multiple first-team all-state honors after tallying 136 total tackles, 11 going for a loss, five sacks, seven passes broken up and an interception. Brooks also doubled up on offense at tight end and caught seven passes for 168 yards and scored five touchdowns.
Coach of the Year: Erik Becker, Daniel Hand
For the second time in Erik Becker‘s tenure as the head coach at Daniel Hand, he’s led the Tigers to a Class SS state championship and this time was more impressive than the 2023 title. Reason being is Becker and his staff being tasked to stop the state’s leading rusher in Offensive Player of the Year Hayden Allard at Killingly. Becker’s defense responded by holding Allard to his lowest yard per rush average at 4.0 and Daniel Hand came away with the 37-13 win for the Class SS state crown. Becker had previously served as the an assistant for five state titles before getting hired in March of 2021 as the Tigers’ head coach and now with his second crown. Could this be the start of many more Connecticut high school state titles to come under Becker’s watch?
