North Crowley transfer QB Jacob Torres ineligible for 2025
Defending Class 6A, Division I state champion and No. 8 nationally ranked North Crowley (Texas) will have one less able arm in their quarterback room heading into the 2025 season.
According to a report by TexasHSFootball.com, North Crowley transfer quarterback Jacob Torres has been ruled ineligible for the 2025 season. Torres transferred in from Burleson Centennial after throwing for over 2,000 passing yards and scoring 23 total touchdowns last year.
Per the report, the Panthers’ quarterback competition is now down to seniors DeMarcus Harris, CJ Alexander, and junior Hayes Cloutier, who recently transferred from from Inglewood (Calif.) to play for the defending University Interscholastic League (UIL) state champions. Cloutier currently has collegiate overtures from Arizona and Sacramento State.
Both Cloutier and Torres were transfers in direct competition to take over the reigns of a Panthers’ offense that was one of the most prolific in the state last season. North Crowley in 2024 averaged an eye-popping 53.6 points per game, featuring Chris Jimerson (3,769 yards, 58 touchdowns in 2024) and wide receiver Quentin Gibson, who is now playing for Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes.

The Panthers went undefeated at 16-0 last season, running the table all the way to AT&T Stadium last December where they soundly defeated Westlake, 50-21, for the UIL 6A-DI state championship.
North Crowley’s first big challenge of the 2025 regular season is when they host No. 22-nationally ranked DeSoto on Sep. 5th to begin their 6A-DI state title defense.
