Michigan High School Football: Detroit Catholic Central routs Cass Tech in state title game
All the talk might’ve been around Cass Technical Technicians throughout the season, the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks had been keeping the receipts. On Sunday evening, they made sure to let everyone know what team runs the City of Detroit and Michigan high school football for that matter.
The Shamrocks’ defense rose to the occasion, shutting down a potent Technicians’ offense, en route to a dominating 42-19 victory at Ford Field.
Both teams entered the contest undefeated with identical 13-0 records, but it would be Detroit Catholic Central showing folks why they were one of the favorites all season long.
The Shamrocks opened up the scoring when quarterback Duke Banta connected on a touchdown pass to Gideon Gash to go up 6-0.
Detroit Catholic Central (14-0) would add on to their lead with less than three minutes remaining before halftime as running back Josh Peters scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. The Shamrocks went into halftime up 13-0 and wouldn’t let up in the second half.
