Miami Norland hires alum Keith Brown as head football coach

Miami Norland (Fla.) held a national search in looking for their next head football coach and it ended with selecting someone that’s very familiar with the program.

On Wednesday afternoon, the school introduced former University of Louisville linebacker Keith Brown as the Vikings next head coach. The school had an Instagram live feed, introducing Brown to the crowd on hand for the event.

Brown played linebacker at Louisville from 2012-14 and appeared in 24 games for the Cardinals.

During his high school days at Norland, Brown was selected as a U.S. Army All-American and played on the undefeated 2011 squad that went 15-0 and went on to win the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 5A state championship.

Brown was most recently the defensive coordinator at Miami Northwestern, which reached the FHSAA Class 3A state championship and fell to Jacksonville Raines, 23-22, last week at Pitbull Stadium.

Miami Norland moved on from Tyronn Johnson during the regular season, with Horane Allison named as the interim coach.

Johnson had taken over during the off-season for former Miami Norland head coach Daryle Heidelburg, who stepped down after the 2024 season and had led the Vikings to the 2023 Class 2M state title game, where they had lost to Berkeley Prep in Tallahassee.
