Marion (SC) football introduces new head coach

The Marion (SC) Swamp Foxes’ football program has fallen on tough times the last couple of years and on Wednesday announced the hiring of a new head coach in hopes of getting back on the right track.

According to a social media announcement by the athletic department via X, formerly known as Twitter, Marion has hired Aundres Perkins as the school’s next head football coach. The last time Perkins served as a head coach was at Pamplico (SC) Hannah Pamplico from 2015-16, compiling a 10-13 overall record.

“Marion proudly introduces our new Head Football Coach, Aundres Perkins. A proven leader, mentor, and program builder, Coach Perkins brings passion, discipline, and a vision for excellence both on and off the field. The mission is clear. The work starts now,” the statement read via social media.

The Swamp Foxes are not far removed from success as they went 10-2 in 2023, but the last two years have gone a combined 1-19 overall. Now with Perkins assuming the role of leading the program, he looks to turnaround a program that won 41 games from 2019 to 2023.

Marion ended this past season with a 0-10 record and finished ranked No. 204 in the state according to the final 2025 South Carolina High School Football Massey Rankings.
