Former UCLA QB joins Corona Del Mar (Calif.) football staff

A recent UCLA starting quarterback will take his knowledge of the position and share it at Corona Del Mar (Calif.) for the 2026 California high school football season.

According to a social media announcement via Instagram by the Sea Kings, former Bruins’ signal caller Ethan Garbers will be joining the Corona Del Mar football coaching staff as the team’s quarterbacks coach.

Garbers appeared in over 40 career games between UCLA (2021-24) and Washington (2020), totaling 4,462 passing yards with 31 touchdowns on 390-for-597 passing. The signal caller also added 294 yards and three scores on the ground.

The former Bruins passer will need to develop Corona Del Mar’s next quarterback behind center as the team graduates last year’s starter Brady Annett, who graduates after a 2025 season that saw the senior throw for 2,532 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Last season, Corona Del Mar averaged nearly 32 points per game as they featured one of the top offenses in CIF Southern Section’s Division 2.

The Sea Kings ended this past season with a 9-2 record and finished ranked No. 37 in the final 2025 California High School Football Massey Rankings.
