The 2025 Florida high school football is in the midst of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoffs, with the 1A-7A state semifinals, Rural state championship and FIT tournament finals taking place this week.

The undefeated IMG Academy Ascenders remain Florida’s No. 1 team, with St. Thomas Aquinas, Miami NorthwesternJacksonville Raines and Chaminade-Madonna Prep following the Ascenders No. 2 through 5, respectively. After last week’s region final results, which clubs were able to crack the latest set of Top 25 Florida high school football rankings before the FHSAA state semifinal round begins?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Florida high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 30.

1. IMG Academy Ascenders (9-0)

IMG Academy (9-0) season will end with just nine games after the Ascenders announced on Friday that they would not be rescheduling their matchup against St. Frances Academy.

The Ascenders have leaned on the play of Louisville commit Le’Khy Thompkins, who rushed for nearly 200 yards and scored two touchdowns in a win over East St. Louis (Ill.) recently. When it comes to playing bully ball up front, no other Florida high school program in the state knows how to do that any better than IMG Academy, under the guidance of former Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa.

Only question left for the Ascenders is will their nine wins be enough to crown them as the country’s No. 1 team?

2. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (12-1)

St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (12-1) remain firmly entrenched in the second spot after cruising to a 34-7 win over an upstart McArthur (10-3) club in last week’s Class 5A, Region 4 final.

Now the Raiders will look to book their ticket to Miami when they face a Riverdale team that upset Manatee last week, 28-26, in a thriller.

Three-star quarterback Mason Mallory, who transferred from West Boca Raton during the offseason, has displayed what he could do as the Raiders’ dual-threat behind center. Mallory has so far thrown for 1,458 yards and 15 touchdowns this fall.

When it comes to dominance in the Sunshine State on the high school football level, head coach Roger Harriott has this group prepared to win a unprecedented seventh straight state title.

3. Miami Northwestern (13-0)

Miami Northwestern (13-0) might’ve just played in what many view as the de facto Class 3A state championship game when they defeated rival Miami Central, 50-29, at Traz Powell Stadium.

Now the Bulls will look to punch their ticket for the second straight year to the Class 3A state championship game when they take on Bishop Moore Catholic on Friday night.

Despite the departure of coach Teddy Bridgewater during the off-season, the Bulls have remained one of Florida’s top tier programs under interim HC Jaquatin Victrum. When looking at this team, there’s a very real possibility of repeating as Class 3A state champions. Neimann Lawrence, a sophomore four-star quarterback, has been superb behind center for the Bulls during their undefeated run through the season and has thrown 28 touchdowns after Saturday night’s performance.

4. Raines Vikings (12-0)

The unbeaten Raines Vikings (12-0) are looking for redemption after last season’s 41-0 loss to Miami Northwestern (see above) in the 2024 Class 3A state championship and they’ll have a chance to put themselves back in the very same position this week.

The Vikings have dominated the competition they have faced so far this season, with impressive wins coming against Lake Mary and Madison County, respectively. Raines has been absolutely dominant through their playoff run as they have out-scored the competition 158-21 through three games and now will have their toughest test when the face Booker in a rematch of last year’s state semifinal.

Senior quarterback Timothy Cole is having himself another superb season behind center, throwing for over 2,200 yards, 30-plus touchdowns and just three mere interceptions. Cole has also added over 300 yards rushing on the ground, establishing himself as one of Northeast Florida’s top dual-threat signal callers.

5. Chaminade-Madonna Prep Lions (11-2)

Chaminade-Madonna Prep (11-2) flexed its proverbial muscle on Friday night as they defeated a very talented True North Classical Academy, 35-14.

The Lions’ regular season winning streak of eight straight games since losing the opener to nationally ranked St. Frances Academy of Baltimore came to an end when they lost to No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas, 27-21, in the finale.

For the Lions, despite the two losses, their eyes are set on winning another Class 1A state title come December at Pitbull Stadium as they began the postseason with a 63-0 win over Saint John Paul II Academy in a 1A, Region 4 quarterfinal and then defeated a talented Edison in the region semifinals, 47-18. Now Chaminade-Madonna will look to book their ticket to the state championship game when they take on Trinity Christian Academy this Friday night.
