Corner Canyon (UT), Eastwood (TX) football to play in 2026-27
One of the nation’s top high school football programs, the Corner Canyon Chargers (UT), and the Eastwood Troopers (TX) will be facing off the next couple of seasons.
According to an announcement by Troopers’ head football coach Julio Lopez, Eastwood will travel to Draper, Utah to face Corner Canyon this 2026 season and then the Chargers will travel down to the Lone Star State for 2027.
Excited to announce a home and home series with Corner Canyon out of Utah! Always looking to compete with the best, and to be able to go to Utah and have them play in Trooper Stadium the following year is a great opportunity for our program!
Corner Canyon is coming off winning its sixth state championship last fall and remains one of the country’s top programs, though the Chargers will be under new leadership as the school hired Casey Sutera away from Brighton (UT) just last week.
Sutera takes over for Eric Kjar, who after the Overtime Nationals Championship game against St. Frances Academy (Md.), accepted the collegiate head coaching position at Weber State. Kjar during his time coaching the Chargers won 112 games and led Corner Canyon to seven state titles.
Corner Canyon, which won the UHSAA Class 6A state championship in 2025, finished as the state’s No. 1 ranked team, according to the final Utah 2025 High School Football Massey Rankings.
