Cook County (Ga.) promotes Cornelius Brown to HFC
Cook County (Ga.) didn’t have to look far whatsoever for their next head football coach.
The Hornets officially promoted safeties coach Cornelius ‘Pig’ Brown to become their next head football coach, according to an announcement by the school on Wednesday. Brown required board approval, which passed on Wednesday morning in Adel.
Brown replaces Byron Slack, who served as the head football coach of the Hornets the last four seasons, compiling an overall record of 28-21. Slack is now the head football coach at Brunswick (Ga.) as he accepted the position over the winter.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Brown has been in the position as a head coach as the former Missouri safety was the co-head coach of the Nebraska Danger professional indoor football team of the Indoor Football League (IFL).
Brown played for Missouri between the 2006-07 seasons and recorded 110 total tackles along with five pass deflections and three interceptions, according to his Tigers’ biography.
