For the first time in nearly 12 decades, Bullock County (Ala.) has won an Alabama high school football playoff game.

According to BamaPreps, with the Hornets’ 21-7 win over Oak Grove on Friday night, the victory snapped a 118-year long streak of going winless in the postseason. Bullock County’s win came in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 4A playoffs.

Bullock County started off the season with a 5-0 record, the best start in school history and, with it’s las undefeated beginning dating back to 1972 when the program finished 9-1. The Hornets improved to 8-3 on the season and next week will take on Mobile Christian School.

There’s been plenty of standout players for Bullock County along the way to this currently historic season as they look to continue their playoff run. Leading the way on the offensive side of the ball is junior quarterback Tyekelis Wallace, who has totaled 1,884 yards and 24 touchdowns this season. Other main contributors are running back Caiden Ivey (725 yards rushing) and sophomore EDGE Jadorion Mack (37 tackles, 11 for loss, five sacks).

When looking back over the last decade for the Hornets, the program has had only one winning season, that coming in 2019 when they finished 6-5. On the season, Bullock County’s only three losses have come at the hands of Handley, Booker T Washington and Southside, respectively.
